No Abnormalities Found in Post-Earthquake Inspection: Qinghai–Tibet Railway Sections Affected by Earthquake Fully Resume Normal Operation

At 22:33 on October 22, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Baqen County, Nagqu City, Tibet, affecting certain sections of the Golmud–Lhasa section of the Qinghai–Tibet Railway. To firmly safeguard railway transport safety, China Railway Qinghai–Tibet Group Co., Ltd. rapidly activated a Level 1 emergency response, comprehensively carrying out inspection of line equipment hazards and control of transportation order. Currently, all temporary speed restrictions in the earthquake-affected sections have been lifted, trains have resumed normal operating speeds, and transportation order across the line remains stable and orderly.

Following the earthquake, the Qinghai–Tibet Group Company strictly adhered to the safety principle of "block first, inspect second, release third," immediately and precisely stopping en-route trains, blocking relevant sections, rapidly initiating emergency response mechanisms, and coordinating forces across various departments to carry out joint inspection and emergency repair work.

This inspection brought together multi-disciplinary forces for a comprehensive survey. Multiple departments—including track maintenance, locomotives, signaling, communications, power supply, and building facilities—worked in close synergy, assembling over 100 specialized inspection teams and deploying multiple railcars, locomotives, and a large number of maintenance personnel. Staff conducted a grid-by-grid, dynamic hazard inspection across critical points along more than 1,000 kilometers of railway lines, bridges, tunnels, communication and power equipment, and station facilities, verifying device operating statuses item by item and building detailed inspection ledgers to ensure no safety blind spots were left behind.

While building a solid defense line for transport safety, the Qinghai–Tibet Group Company went all out to ensure service support for passengers. In response to train delays and stranded passengers, all staff members at stations within the jurisdiction remained on duty, adding volunteer service posts to assist passengers with inquiries, guidance, ticket refunds and changes, and emotional support. Trains were fully stocked with essential supplies, including food, drinking water, and emergency medicine, to ensure the basic needs of en-route passengers were met. Meanwhile, stranded passengers were efficiently cleared by adding 9 extra temporary passenger trains and coordinating local transport connections.

Moving forward, the Qinghai–Tibet Group Company will continue to closely track earthquake activity and aftershock risks, maintain routine post-earthquake equipment inspections and duty monitoring, dynamically optimize train operation plans, and strictly prevent all types of secondary safety hazards, making every effort to ensure the high-altitude artery of the Qinghai–Tibet Railway remains safe, smooth, and orderly.
